Students set to embark on transformative trip to Japan in September 2025

This September, 15 students from Years 9, 10, and 11 at Granville Boys High School will take their Japanese language studies beyond the classroom and into the heart of Japan. As part of their elective Japanese subject, these students will embark on a 12-day educational tour, departing on 29 September, that will take them through Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka.

This immersive experience is more than just a school trip, it’s a life-changing opportunity that will enrich the boys’ academic learning, cultural understanding and personal growth. By visiting iconic sites such as the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation), Tsukuba Space Centre, Meiji Jingu Shrine, Fushimi Inari Taisha, Nara Park, Todaiji Temple and Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium, students will witness firsthand the vibrant blend of tradition and innovation that defines Japan.

Why the trip matters

Bringing language to life

Classroom lessons will come alive as students engage with native speakers, navigate real-world situations, and deepen their understanding of Japanese language and culture in authentic contexts.

Cultural immersion

From ancient temples to cutting-edge technology centers, students will gain a profound appreciation for Japan’s rich history and modern advancements, broadening their worldview and fostering intercultural respect.

Personal development

Travelling abroad encourages independence, adaptability, and confidence. Students will return with new perspectives, stronger friendships and a greater sense of self.

Global readiness

In an increasingly interconnected world, this experience will help students develop global competencies that are highly valued in future academic and career pathways. Exposure to international environments enhances communication skills, cultural intelligence, and the ability to thrive in diverse settings.

This journey is a testament to Granville Boys High School’s commitment to providing meaningful, future-focused learning experiences.
