There are two physical education and sports subjects offered in Year 11 and 12 (Stage 6) at Granville Boys High School:
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Studies (SLR)
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
What students learn in Year 11 (preliminary)
During the preliminary year (Year 11), the students will learn about:
- better health for individuals
- the body in motion.
Plus two of the following topics:
- first aid
- compositions and performance
- fitness choices
- outdoor recreation.
What students learn in Year 12 (HSC)
During the Higher School Certificate (HSC) course, the students will learn about:
- health priorities in Australia
- factors affecting performance.
Plus two of the following topics:
- the health of young people
- sport and physical activity in Australian society
- sports medicine
- improving performance
- equity and health.
Year 11 and 12 task requirements
- essays
- examinations
- reports
- oral presentations
- practical assessments and demonstrations
- project work.
Year 12 HSC examination
The HSC examination is a three hour written examination with five minutes reading time. It consists of:
- section 1 — Core modules, including multiple choice and short answer questions
- section 2 — Option modules, includes short answer and extended response questions.

Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Studies (SLR)
Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Studies (SLR) does not count towards a student's Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
