Year 11 students learn to lead at UNSW Sydney

Granville Boys High School students participated in the UNSW Gateway Leaders Program.

On Wednesday, 26 March, nine Year 11 students participated in the UNSW Gateway Leaders Program. The day began with a leadership workshop, “Who am I as a leader?”, run by UNSW Gateway University Ambassadors. Students explored individual values, purpose, and passions for social impact, and the kind of leader they want to be.

"The value and techniques I gained from the workshop were priceless. It taught me how to communicate with others without feeling nervous," Granville Boys High School student.

The second workshop, “How do we communicate with purpose?”, was led by internationally acclaimed performer, speaker, and AGSM communication expert Jo O’Reilly. Jo, an accomplished professional speaker and former comedian, has worked extensively with UNSW and AGSM to develop leadership skills in various individuals. The practical and inspiring workshop focused on having a leadership presence that aligns with one's values and purpose. Students were reminded that leaders do not always have to have the loudest voice and that everyone has leadership potential.

Granville Boys High School is a UNSW Gateway partner school.
