11 Apr 2025
Granville Boys High School dominated the 3v3 Basketball boys’ competition at the Community Kick-Off organised by the Cumberland Police Area Command, going undefeated against local schools in all their matches.
On Wednesday, 9 April the team opened with a strong 16–6 win over Delany College, followed by an even more commanding 17–4 victory overGranville South Creative and Performing Arts High School. They capped off the group stage with an impressive 18–3 win against Merrylands High School, finishing top of the group.
In the final, they faced off once again against second-placed Delany College and continued their fine form with a solid 14–6 win to take home the trophy. A huge congratulations to Yusef Trad, who was named Player of the Tournament in basketball for his outstanding overall performance throughout the day.
Our boys also put in a fantastic effort in 5v5 Futsal. They kicked off with a dominant 7–0 win over Merrylands High School, followed by a tight 2–2 draw with Delany College and a 0–0 draw with Granville South. These results secured them second place in the group and a spot in the final against Delany College.
The final was a closely contested match, but despite a strong performance, Delany College won by just a single point with a 1–0 result. Well done to the whole team on a great effort and to Imran Abdullahi, who was deservedly named Player of the Tournament in futsal.
A great day of sport and community spirit all around – well done to all involved!
