In 2023, Granville Boys High School experienced a notable increase of 19.6% compared to 2017-2018, showcasing continued progress in our top three band results. This improvement stands out as one of the most significant across the state, emphasising our dedication to enhancing student performance and achieving success in the HSC. Such accomplishments are only possible with the exceptional support and expertise of our teaching staff. The acknowledgment of our results by the executive team at the NSW Department of Education reaffirms that we are truly Aiming for Excellence.

Letter to Mr Dixon from Murat Dizdar, Secretary of the NSW Department of Education:

It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you, your team and your students on the results achieved by Granville Boys High School in the 2023 Higher School Certificate.

You and your entire school community should be immensely proud of this achievement. Our Plan for Public Education speaks of our ambition as a system to provide opportunities for all and transform lives through learning. I know that this can only be achieved by strong leadership with a dedicated and professional staff sharing a collective vision of continuous school improvement. I also know that Granville Boys High School excels in delivering on this.

Granville Boys High School saw an uplift of 19.6% from 2017-18 in 2023 and continued improvement from 2022 to 2023 in your top three band results. This improvement represents one of the highest improvements in the state and demonstrates Granville Boys High School's ongoing commitment to student improvement and school success in the HSC, and the support of your dedicated teaching staff to sustain it.

Your school's focus on implementing high-impact professional learning, adopting the evidence-based strategies outlined in What Works Best to develop teacher skills and instructional techniques, has laid the foundation for academic success. I have witnessed the exceptional extra-curricular offerings that engage students through the school's barbershop, robotics labs, chess club, bagpipe band, and free Saturday morning group tutoring sessions which have supported the development of a strong and vibrant school culture.

I know that this achievement does not happen in isolation. It is the collective efforts of a whole school to providing outstanding learning experiences in every classroom that challenges and grows our students.

Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. On behalf of the students at Granville Boys High School, I thank you and your staff for your unwavering commitment to public education. I wish you continued success for 2024.
