On Tuesday 18 October 11 Robotics students from Year 10 and 11 went to the 10 year celebration of Careers with STEM* at Google headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
Students spent the day listening to various Google professionals talk about their career pathways and successes, they engaged in various STEM technologies including photovoltaics**, 3D printing and CAD software*** and game design. Our boys finished off with a tour through Google’s head office in Australia.
Thank you to Careers in STEM, Google and our Head Teacher Innovation, Teaching and Learning and Robotics Coordinator Ms Donnelly for this incredible opportunity for our students.
- *STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
- **Photovoltaics: the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect, a phenomenon studied in physics, photochemistry, and electrochemistry.
- ***CAD software: 2D and 3D computer-aided design software often used by architects, mechanics, inventors, engineers and designers.
