Year 10 HSIE spend a day at Powerhouse Ultimo

Granville Boys High School Year 10 HSIE selective class went on an excursion to Powerhouse Ultimo.

They are currently learning about the Industrial Revolution in their HSIE lessons, and this excursion was a great way  for them to see first hand some of the inventions from that period including the Boulton and Watt steam engine and Locomotive No. 1, the first steam train that took passengers between Sydney and Parramatta in the mid 1800s.

Students learned about the role of steam power and how these inventions harnessed it, as well as the changes to living conditions during that period including urbanisation and child labour.
