Extension 1 mathematics

Successful completion requirements:

  • at least a band 5 or 6 in Stage 5.3 mathematics in the school certificate
  • interest in mathematics and willingness to apply myself
  • organisational skills
  • self discipline
  • working effectively in groups or independently
  • strong graphing and tabulation skills.

  • other inequalities
  • circle geometry
  • further trigonometry
  • angles between two lines
  • internal and external division of lines into given ratios
  • parametric representation
  • permutations and combinations
  • polynomials
  • harder applications of the Preliminary 2 unit course.
     

Special requirements of the course:

  • Successful completion of Stage 5.3 mathematics in year 10.

School assessment:

  • knowledge, understanding and skills (70%)
  • reasoning, interpretative, explanatory and communicative abilities (30%).
