Visual Arts
Students learn to study images and objects; Experiment with ideas and techniques, create artworks in a number of mediums. (for example; painting, sculpting, printmaking, collage and photography).
Higher school certificate (HSC) topics
- Informed points of view in using ‘The Frames'.
- Develop practice of artmaking and art history in selected areas of interest.
- Relationships between artist, artwork, world & audience within the art world.
- Developing meaning and focus in artmaking.
Assessment
School Assessment:
- A body of work in one or more forms and visual arts process diary.
- A broad investigation of ideas in art criticism and art history.
HSC Exam:
- A written paper — 50%
- submission of a body of work — 50%.
Music
Students will learn performing, composing, researching and listening to a wide variety of different types of music including music of the students' choice.
Course Topics
3 topics chosen from a list of 21 which cover a range of styles, periods and genres.
- Core performance — 10%.
- Core composition — 10%.
- Core musicology — 10%.
- Core aural — 25%.
- Elective 1 — 15%.
- Elective 2 — 15%.
- Elective 3 — 15%.
Higher school certificate (HSC) exam:
- Core performance (one piece) — 10%.
- 45 minute – 1 hour aural exam — 30%.
- Three electives from any combination of:
- performance (one piece) — 20%
- composition (and submitted composition) — 20%
- musicology (one viva voce) — 20%.
