Additional learning support

At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.

Support that fits your child's needs

Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school. At Granville Boys High School, we work closely with families to make support plans and adjustments that suits each child’s needs.

Granville Boys High School Macqlit literacy program

Macqlit literacy program

MacqLit is an intensive reading, writing, and spelling program delivered over six hours per fortnight. Designed for boys in Years 7 to 10 who require targeted literacy support, the program is taught by specially trained learning Support assistants in a small group setting. It provides a structured and supportive environment to help students fill literacy gaps, build confidence, and develop the decoding skills and fluency needed to engage successfully with the high school curriculum.

In addition, MacqLit supports students with special needs or disabilities. Trained School Learning Support Officers work with these students for an extra hour each day, on top of the regular program. This additional support ensures our most vulnerable learners have the best opportunity to experience success in their high school studies.
