A dedicated Robotics Lab has been created which facilitates students working in a team-orientated environment. A Robotics elective subject is offered to Stage 5 students in Years 9 and 10 at Granville Boys High School.
This program offers a cross curricular educational experience and provides students with the opportunity to develop their 21st century learning skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving, leadership and initiative, while pursuing their passion for robotics and also having fun.
Students follow a process of designing, constructing, programming and testing their robot to complete tasks and goals.
Our school participates in the FIRST Lego League competition and the FIRST Robotics Competition, which are part of an internationally acclaimed robotics program. Our school is closely associated with Macquarie University, who provide experienced robotics mentors for our students.
Robotics is also offered as an extra-curricular activity. Students from all year groups are welcome to join the GBHS Robotics Club which operates at recess and lunchtime on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students work in in teams and can compete in weekly robotics challenges.
